Hey everyone, I have a problem, my burns keep failing all of the sudden. I have a log to post but before I do, how do I edit out the serial number? Where is it in the log? I have a BTC drive that I've been using, and decided to get something better so I got a BenQ 1650, ever since the install of the 1650, I have only had 1 out of 3 successful burns on the BenQ, and so I tried to use the BTC again and 2 of 2 have failed, I don't know why. The one successful one with the BenQ took over 20 minutes burning at 8x, My other one takes 9-10 minutes..Let me know how to get that serial number out of there and I will post the log, thanks! EDIT: I think I found the serial number and took it out, in case I missed it or that wasn't it, someone let me know, thanks! Here is the log, this was burned with my BTC drive that never had a single problem before the BenQ was installed, now it 0 for 2. Also, just FYI, this was a copy of a copy, which I have done tons of times with no problems: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 11/20/2005 11:48:21 PM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 7:35:34 PM Nero API version: 6.6.0.18 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 18e Recorder: <DVDRW IDE 16X> Version: A089 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : MAXTOR 4K080H4 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : BENQ DVD DD DW1650 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : DVDRW IDE 16X atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === BENQ DVD DD DW1650 D: CDRom0 DVDRW IDE 16X E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 53477376 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 351MB (359924kB) Free physical memory: 133MB (136480kB) Memory in use : 62 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 3.4.2006 NeroAPI 4:16:53 AM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation started 4:16:54 AM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 4:16:54 AM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files sorted 4:16:54 AM #4 SCSI -1196 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1182 SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 1, LUN 0, buffer 0x06EE6000 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x02 (KEY_NOT_READY) Sense Code: 0x3A Sense Qual: 0x02 CDB Data: 0xFA 0x01 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x04 0x00 0x00 0xAA 0xFF Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x02 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0A 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x3A 0x02 4:16:54 AM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 4:16:54 AM #6 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 842 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 4:16:54 AM #7 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer DVDRW IDE 16X running 4:16:54 AM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 4:16:54 AM #9 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 4:16:54 AM #10 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 10:06:48 AM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2286127 (508:01.52, 4465MB) 10:06:48 AM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO 10:06:48 AM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: DVDRW IDE 16X, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: MCC 02 - RG20 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 10:06:48 AM #14 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= Insert empty disc to write to. When you copy and paste the log in explorer, don't post the number on top, that is your serial number.
Hey grummy! I don't mess with the dash format much. Those blanks have the code as Verbatim -8x. I thought you were using -16x? These benqs highly favor the plus format. Majority of my issues was with the dash format,in the format speed. Verbatim -4x MCC-01-RG20 to be exact. You got all your connections secured on your cables? Power calibration error usually means bad media or you drive is dying.I'd try some quality plus format media like Verbatim +16x. I've got a spindle of -16x verbs here with the MID code of MCC-03-RG20. I'll have to try a few of them. Is this on the fly? Please explain that backup that you are trying to make extra copy/s of. How you ripped it/type of media/how fast it was burned/programs used-which are very close to mine. You are cutting it close to the outer edge.Reduce the backup target to 4360 mbs.
Looking through the log I see 2 things, firstly your burner is not recognizing your media so you will probably need a firmware update. Unfortunately my source for this is unavailable at the moment so I will post the link for you, it is http://www.firmware.fr.st/ Also you have Roxio installed, it has a conflict with Nero and most say to uninstall Roxio, but that's up to you, heres a Roxio zapper link http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
Definitely remove all remnants of roxio off that pc. It has a packet called drag to disc that can clash with nero's incd packets. I posted a link in your other thread for that nero cleantool 6. Remove both programs. Run the roxizapper and nero cleantool 6 and reload nero-but leaving out the incd packets. You can also try another option to backup a backup copy.Try dvd decrypter using Mode ISO read to harddrive/Mode ISO write/locate MDS files/open/set burnspeed and burn. It'll take about 5 mins to rip,and you'll have the extra burn engine of dvd decrypter to see if it will allow you to burn.
Firmware version A187 is available for your burner. Update, http://www.btc.com.tw/drivers/zip/dvd_dual/IDE1016_A187&0056_MCU.EXE, and that might fix the media problem. Media could be also the problem for "10:07:01 AM #27 CDR -1106 File Writer.cpp, Line 311 Power calibration error "
@saugmon I was using the 16x Verbs until I got my R220 and started with the printables. Since then I have been using the Verb 8x -R Hub Printables from SMS, I actually just ordered 200 more from SMS. Even though these BenQ's favor the +R format, they should still work fine for the -R format right? I have always used -R's for some reason and they have worked great in every stand alone player I have ever tried them in (which is probably about 10 different ones). Also, I just remembered that this particular burn was with my BTC drive and it wasn't a copy of a copy, it was actually a backup of the movie Walking Tall from the original disc, which I have actually backed up before problem free. I think I am gonna try a couple more and if I am still getting failed burns, I will use that Nero Clean Tool and reinstall Nero and hopefully that'll help! Thanks a lot saugmon, I appreciate you trying to help me out! @gwendolin I ran that utility and when I restarted my AnyDVD did not recognize either of my drives, I had to uninstall AnyDVD, reboot, reinstall AnyDVD, then reboot again then it worked fine. I have only tried one more burn since and it was with the BenQ. It worked! Nero CD-DVD Speed gave it a Quality Score of 94 so hopefully the problem is solved, I need to try and burn another disc with the BTC and be sure that one does not fail. Kinda odd though that my successful burn with the BenQ at 8x took 15 minutes. Figured it should be closer to 10, but I guess if it's working, no big deal. Thank you for the suggestion and the link, I believe it helped, I will cross my fingers and hope that I don't get any more coasters. I will try and update the firmware when I can find somwhere to do it, I went to the BTC site and couldn't find it. Thank you very much gwendolin! @cyprusrom I tried that link and it's giving me an "Object Not Found" error, I went to the BTC site but can't seem to find where the firmware updates are, any chance of a new link? Thank you cyprusrom, I really appreciate your help!
I just got nerospeed test on my latest OEM disc-Nero 6.6.0.14. I've been getting huge spikes around the 2 gb mark. Not only tall, but wide. Both SonyD21 and verbatim MCC-03-RG20 Have you noticed any wide spikes at the 2 gb area from your 1650? I still got a 94 rating on the MCC-03-RG20 I've used a total of 7 dvd-rw drives and a tv recorder. 4 are benqs. On the Non-benq drives,I see a huge stand alone player compatability difference between plus and dash. Those non benqs actually favor the dash format, and the plus has more problems. Some of my players could also tell a difference. They would play my benq dash, but not my HP dash-using the same quality media like Taiyo Yuden. If the dash is working for you, then you're ok. If you run into a drive that gives a no disc error, then booktyping may fix that issue.
@grumlenz Sorry about that! I followed the link in your post, I got the same error. It was strange, as I was able to download using the same link. So I went to my original source, it looks like I had an extra character at the end of the one I posted! It should end with [bold]MCU.EXE[/bold] no other character! It was a punctuation error! It should work now! http://www.btc.com.tw/drivers/zip/dvd_dual/IDE1016_A187&0056_MCU.EXE
