Ok wel ive decided its goin to come down to two tv's for me. After seeing samsungs ln-s3251d's beautiful picture at circuit city last night and then was told that there was going to be two more Samsungs coming out that are even going to be bestter than this one, i was sold. i am Either going to buy the Samsung ln-s4092d or the ln-s4096d. the 92 is about $3,000 and the 96 is about $3,800. As i dont know much about lcd's i was hoping to get some help on here with the specs on these tv's and the differences between the two. Ok to my first topic : Both of these sets have a CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp), which the 51 series did not have this. It says this about the CCFL. Now is this the backlight for it? and if so, is it as good as this LED backlight ive been hearing about? Also is this CCFL a very good thing, and if so, how much of a difference will it make? what will be the benefit of it? My second topic for the Samsung : Ok here is another feature that the 51 samsung serious does not have but the 90 series has What is this PVA Screen. is it new? what are the benefits? third topic : What is this? is this a good thing, because i heard some bad things about this. and is this the same as dynamic contrast and if not, what is dynamic contrast? And last but not least, i am going to state the differences between the 92 and the 96 : Ok the 96 only has three different(better) specs than the 92 series that i saw. 1)1080p resolution 2)firewire input 3)7000:1 contrast ratio compared to the 92's 5000:1 contrast ratio. Now i dont care for the firewire input but the other two specs are whats gonna help me make my final decision. Now can someone answer these questions. 1)with 1080p being new on the market, does it stil need some time before it can truly be a better resolution for a tv than 720p(in regards to standard definition looking better, regular dvds looking better, and just the implentation of the scaling when it has to be scaled that much) 2)do standard definition tv and regular dvd's look bad on a 1080p set and will they look better on a 720p set? 3)with dynamic contrast, is 7000:1 a really big difference than 5000:1
just curious, but did the circuit city you were at have any sony sxrd's on display? because for just about the same price you can get the sony's which i think are a little bit better, and they are bigger, one is fifty inches the other sixty, one for three grand the other for four. because i'm in the market for a new tv and i've narrowed down to the sony sxrd series, and also looked at the samsungs you mentioned, i personally thought the sonys had a better picture, and as for the 1080p is concerned neither of us can say which tv has the better 1080p display seeing as how nothing is in that resolution yet.
