The best way

    All i am wondering is what is the best way to "back up your DVD's" ?

    get DVDSHRINK , rip with that and burn with nero, simple :)

    Download these programs DVDFab Decrypter, which can rip the newer protection, and DVD Shrink which will compress your DVD to fit onto a single layer 4.3g disk. If you need a program to burn then also download DVD Decrypter. These are all free and will get the job done. You can download the programs here, and also read guides on the programs.
