system freezes for about a minute

hi i'm a noob, and i need help with my system while playing games.
what happens is that the system freezes for about a minute randomly when i'm playing a game. it still works after that minute but it's just annoying that i have to wait for the game to unfreeze.

could someone help me. i've downloaded the latest drivers for my video and sound card.

 

it lags for a minute and goes back to normal
then after a few minute it lags again, right?

sounds like an overheat problem
what you should do is open the case of you computer
clear all the dust out of the fan
(the dust can cause the fan not turning and cause overheat, then your computer will slow down whatever it is doing to cool it down, that's why sometimes it lags while playing games)

 

funny you say that, my computer was sounding abit cluttered with dust and i just gave it a vacuum today, thanks for your advice. hopefully this solves the problem.

 

Also how much system memory do you have, that can also affect the loading of parts of games.

 

i have 2 gig of pc3200 ddram. that shouldn't be a problem. i've also tried the game after cleaning the cpu from dust and i still get the same problem, any suggestions? thanks.
