What are matrices?

    Hi,

    What are matrices in video encoding. I use HC Encoder and I can choose between a lot of them. What's the difference between one and an other ?
    Which one shoold I use ? some have beautiful names :D

    I'm no mathematician but from what I understand a matrix is a way of determining what algorithm's are used to determine the way a certain pixel is related to it's neighbor
    a way to compare fields for redudndancies that can be replaced w/ a single pixel instead of two very similar but different pixels.

    if you would like to read more about it just google for say "quantisation" or "discreet cosign transform"

    if you would like to see there effect's on a portion of video w/ out encoding and burning the same dvd several times try the rme plug-in
