I'm having trouble playing mpeg (1) files
I recenlty did a clean install of XP on my computer and ever since have had trouble playing mpeg files.
avi and other video formats play without problem.
When I load an mpg file it takes about 3 minutes to load in my players (both wmp10 and zoom) and the hard drive is very busy the whole time it is loading.
If I have mpeg one enabled in ffdshow it will play ok after the long time it took to load.
If I disable mpeg one playback in ffdshow - when I try to play the file in wmp10 I get the message "error downloading codec"

Can anybody give me some help on this.

If I render in gspot (which takes an unusually long time) I get the message
Directshow claims to be able to play the file.
    Mpeg-1 Video Decoder [Video Decoder]
    Video Renderer [Video Renderer]

    Mpeg Audio Decoder [Audio Decoder]
    Default DirectSound Device [Audio Renderer]

I have tried a range of things - including reinstalling directx 9 and reinstalling wmp10.
    None of these work.

The entire file seems to be scanned before commencing playback.

    Please help me!!

Remove/lower the merit of whatever Main Concept filter was causing the problem.

Lowered the merit of the mpeg splitter from Mainconcept and it fixed it up.
    Thanks
