I am a former AT&T user and now to update my phone I have to find a locked AT&T phone or an ulocked phone. My question is that the phones I see on the net all say to check w/ service provider to see if the phone will work on their network,dose the sim have anything to do with that or is it the phone only?How do I know if I need a tir(900,1800,1900) or quad(850,900,18 or1900)band?I think AT&T may have been 850 but cingular is diffrent. Getting a quadband phone is always helpful. Do you already have a simcard to use with your new phone? Yes I have a sim card for my AT&T contract that I am under. I'm just trying to upgrade my phone without changing my plan and signing a new contract.
A real good phone is the Nokia 6010. It has the best reception results and the cheapest as of now. You can buy the TMOBILE prepaid version, and I can help you unlock it. Once its unlocked, you can use your ATT sim in it. Good luck with your hunt.
