    Hi,

recently I purchased a ATI XP 700 pci express card with 256mb and have heard the geoforce videocard with the same specs is superior in performance. I did a search and nothing regarding the 2 in comparision. I am a total noobie at videocards and would like some suggestions before I purchase another card. Thanks in advance.

What games etc... are you going to be playing?
Do you require any additonal functionality from the card?
Are you wanting to use it in crossfire or sli at a later date?
What mobo will it be used on?
How much can you afford to spend?
Are you in the UK or USA?

I am considering playing half-life as well as the pc version of Halo. Also I have quite a few old martials arts movies I want to put on dvd (no protection on the tapes) and I understand that a higher-end video card for capturing would increase the quality. Haven't read up what a crossfire is (mental note). I currently have the ATI in a Gateway 3800 AMD with 3 gigs of ram, the latest sound blaster (X-FI platinum) 250 gig sata hard drive, running windows xp media center edition, and a Gateway 1628x780 21 inch LCD. Price is not a worry if it is top notch and I am in the US.
