so, i've got this computer from a friend w/ windows 2000 on it and an assload of memory left. now, my own computer, is slam packed w/ music, videos, and many programs that i have not been able to bring myself to delete. now, i would not have any problems if my external hard drive was working, but as u can imagine neither computer will read the drive -- which as far as i know is the best and easiest item to use to transfer information from my computer to this new one. i'm certainly a novice at dealing w/ these computers and i'm not very familiar w/ reformatting and am interested in wiping the harddrive to the new computer, which i have an xp disk for. i'd also like to find the easiest way to transfer my music and other large files to the new computer. this is long, but any help and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated
install a secondary hard drive in your computer.as that drive will be recognized by ye new xp-system after ye xp install.....or like ye said or get another external hard drive to transfer ye files..
