Ok, log looks clean. This is your internet provider, rigth? NTL Internet Crawley Court Winchester Hampshire SO21 2QA You don't seem to have a firewall on your computer. Install one firewall. These are good (free) firewalls: ZoneAlarm --> http://www.zonelabs.com Kerio--> http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm Outpost-> http://www.agnitum.com You should update your Java: 1. Click Start->Control panel and double-click Java icon (coffee cup) 2. Move to Update tab and update Java by clicking "Update Now". After that do a restart. 3. If you can't make automatic update, get new version manually from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp 4. After restart go back to your Java settings thru control panel (Start->control panel->java). 5. Select Temporary Internet Files and click Delete Files. 6. Make sure that all these three are checked: Downloaded Applets Downloaded Applications Other files 7. Click ok in Delete Temporary Internet Files window (Attention: This removes all loaded applications and applets from cache) 8. Click ok to close Java window. Those downloading errors might be related to GetRight software. Have you tried updating/re-installing it?
Hi, thanks for the reply. Downloading a firewall as i'm typing this, can't believe i didnt have one. I have been using the windows firewall temporarily though. I don't think the download issues are with getright as I don't use that to download anything. I only use it in certain cases. I recently did a system file check, the first time I did this it sorted out my problem but only until I rebooted, so I'm guessing it has something to do with my .dll files, or some other windows file. When the same thing happened again, I did another system file check, this didnt fix my problem and when I rebooted I got a blue screen error with "STOP:0x0000007E" I had to start in safe mode and do a system restore. I'm just stuck now, thats why I tried a hijack this log. I would greatly appreciate any advice with this matter, and thank you again for the reply.
Ok, does the error report give you any filename? You could try to clean your registry with CCleaner and see if that helps. CCleaner -> http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
No, the error report didn't give a file name, which is kind of annoying . I used the program you recommended, this seemed to solve the problem for about 20 minutes, then everything went back as it was. Small files download and work no problem, and by small I mean less than about 2mb, anything over that is corrupt 95% of the time. I heard this could be due to my RAM, but I have tried memtest86 and it found no errors.
Ok, it is hard to say with no filename, but microsoft has something realted to that "STOP:0x0000007E" error -> http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?mkt=en-GB&setlang=en-GB&q=0x0000007E Have you tried downloading with any other browser? Or maybe the problem is in your internet connection? What kind of a connection do you have?
I am using a cable modem, running through ethernet on a 2MB connection. You may be right as I used to have a wireless connection and I never had this problem. Yes I have used IE and firefox to download, also tried download managers such as GetRight, still the same. One thing I have noticed though, if I download anything using BitTorrent the files are fine, never had a problem with that. With regards to the stop error I have not seen this since I restored my system and I was only receiving it when Windows was loading, like I said system restore fixed this.
Yes they did...didn't really want it to be a problem with my hardware though, thought I'd try all the easy options first
Yes, because the problems started when you changed the connection type, the problem propably is in it. Maybe in drivers, modem, connection etc. Have tried to contact you isp's support ?
