My cd rom bought the farm so now I have an open spot in my slave drive. My question is will I just be able to slide an blu\hd drive right in there using the existing cables?

Thats not true. The fact is alot of PC monitors have resolutions well over 1280x720. The problem is that no video card supports HDCP and there are no plans for any of them to support HDCP as of yet.

Blu-ray drives will be for data storage. Not HD movies.
