I have guite a few 50 -100 MB avi & mpg files on my hdd that i'm not wanting to waste a dvd on is there any way to, convert them to, say, .VOB and write them to a cd+r, or am i stuck using a 4 Gig dvd when 2 cd+r's will suffice? Any and all suggestions welcome and thank you in advance.
It depends on how you want to watch them. If you just want to back it up and watch on your computer, you can burn them as data on a CD. If your stand alone dvd player can play avi, mpg, or vcd then you can burn on CD. If not you must convert and put on dvd.
thanks my standalone will play mpg and vcd, but when i have ithe disk in mpg i have no ff or rw is that fixable or just something i'll have to live wit? txs again
I never played mpg on a stand alone dvd player so I am not sure if it can ff or rw. But I have done VCD and I know you can ff and rw for VCDs.
I tried to burn a vcd earlier using the registered version of WinAVI and all it did was put 1.7MB of wierd little folders that I can open on my PC but no video to watch. I followed the directions provided by WinAVI do u know what i could've done wrong or where i could find a good guide, cos i try to look stuff up in the forums spend hours reading and looking but never find what i,m wanting to know. One other question, What program could i use to put a menu on a burned dvd+r,triedAVI2DVD, it locks up, won't convert, won't close, went to the AVI2DVD forum asked how 2 fix only got told i'm not the only one it happens to,. Any responses greatly appreciated , sorry to have rambled on so long. Thanks again
For no video to watch: Please check if you are using a NVidia video card. If so, you might have enabled the full screen video, which would prevent you from converting the video image. So just close the option "full screen video" In addition, you should download a k-lite codec package from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm to your system. wish helpful
