    Hi,
I cranked up the front side bus on my AMD athlon XP 2600+ from 166mhz to 200mhz and rebooted my comp. It runs fine, except when I go to the control panel and double click on "system" it reports my clock speed as 1.24ghz! Before I turned up the fsb my cpu was running at 2.08mhz, so what the hell happend?!

    My system has:
    amd athlon XP 2600+
    512mb of RAM
    XP Professional SP1

It's not running any slower?? Try running some form of benchmark. If you change it back to 166 does it register as 2.08?? What kind of Motherboard are you running on??

If it was me, and my benchmarks were higher, even though my system reported a wrong speed, I wouldn't worry about it.

    byron,
Thanks for the fast reply! It doesn't seem to be running any slower, but I will try a form of benchmark; which app would you recommend? And no it doesn't register as 2.08ghz when I turn the fsb back down to 166 which I find VERY suspicious...
