Right, been looking for info for you on the web, it would seem that the Lite-on SOHW 822S is quite an old model now that will only write to DVD+R? Is this right or have you got the model No mixed up, bgecause the latest version is the 832S which is both formats & dual layer writing, meaning you can write to 9gb DVD's. Anyway, pretty much most of my search has come up blank for problems with this drive. I take you havent tried upgrading the firmware of the drive? Although upgrading the firmware can lead to some good things, multiregion Etc it can also be the quickest way to screw your drive up & turn it into a new paperweight!! To be honest, if you do have the older drive you would do just as well to get a new one anyway. LG make some great triple format drives now that will also read & write DVD-RAM (useful for storing your own data). I dont know where you are but here in england LG drives can be picked up for around £30 from places like www.ebuyer.com which is somewehre around $20 (USD). Anyway sorry I cant be much more help than this.
FREDDIE You have a software issue! Did you do a system recovery or a system restore.? If you did a system restore then any software that you installed between the restore points (by date) should be reinstalled.
i did system recovery, and i do have the old drive dvd + only and cd - is the combo, now i can't even play movies on this lite-on 822s should i just buy a new one
Just go to your device manager. ->right click on my computer, ->click the hardware tab ->click on Device Manager. Now look under the DVD/CDROM Right click on your burner Go to properties Click on the Driver tab and go to update driver.
