I have a avi file and a srt file and i just want to play it with subtitles. Your guides with fddshow make it seem really easy but i must be missing something cause i cant get it to work.

I still have a question though, windows media player is the only thing that will display the subtitles, is there a way i can get a program like nero showtime to display them as well.

VobSub or ffdshow only display subs in WMP or when encoded with TMPGEnc. Can't help with Nero, maybe there is something here in the add subtitles catagory. There are several subtitle guides:http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=&howtoselect=5%3B20&orderby=Date&listall=1&hits=25&archive=0&listallusers=&search=Search+or+List+Guides
