Got a question for you folks.

First of all, I rebooted the PC a while back. Now my PCI port will not reconize my TV turner. I uninstalled the drivers, re installed the drivers and pulled out the turner. Anyway, all this time when I turned on the computer the "Found New Hardware" box pops up. That's normal. Where it is intersting is it still pops up even after I have removed the TV Turner. I do not beleive it is my graphics card or my sound card because both drivers are installed for them. Anyway, just now I put a Firewire card in there and the "Found New Hardware" box popped up again. Needless to say, my firewire port is not working.

My question for you: Is it possible that ONE PCI port on the mobo could die. My graphics card and sound card is working fine.

    Thanks!

    Yes.

Remove the device from the Device Manager. (should uninstall the drivers for you)

Place the TV Tuner in an adjacent PCI slot, and restart the system.

(This happens to a lot of people who leave their modems plugged into telephone lines during lightning storms. Not only does it toast the modem, but it takes out the PCI channel as well)

Bummer. Well at least I know. Thanks. I'll give that a try.

Maybe try to update the chipset drivers as well, and also do a bios update if one is available.
If it still fails then at least you know you've eliminated those possible causes.
You could also try to clean the registry of any errors, removing all entries relating to that hardware.
If possible just do a reload of the operating system with a complete format of HDD.
It could be the slot but I've never seen one fail before.
