i have an old computer with alot of stuff on it(mp3.documents.files.backups.etc)and i wish to put it on my new computer.i would use dvd-r but my old computer doesnt use it.so then i figured out that it would be genius to use usb cables but i dont know how to transfer using the usb cables.so if any one can give me some easy help......
If the older computer is using Windows 95/98/Me, there is a program called Direct Connect. Though it uses the 25pin parallel connection (otherwise used as a printer port). Not quite sure, cuz I've never used a direct USB connection. If you get yourself a router, and an NIC card for the older computers..it's alot easier to transfer the files over the network. Even if the older OS doesn't see XP, XP will see them. Another option would be to put in a DVD burner in the older system, and use the driver disk that came with it for older OS support.
i dont have a router so how do i do it thru network.by the way my older computer is an xp although it shouldnt be bcuz the computer is too crappy for it but i just didnt want to be in the older generation
