A Sierra wireless aircard that I use for internet access when I travel, intermittently causes a "general host service" or something to that effect, and the windows NT authority must shutdown within 60 seconds (a timer appears). I use XP pro, on a fujitsu 1.6GHz laptop, 512ram, Intel Pentium 4, and plenty of space on my harddrive.

I regularly update mcaffee, and run a scan once every 2 weeks.

The show details brings me to a microsoft site that says I have a virus (dont remember the name) but even their online scan comes up negative. Any ideas? btw, no other pcmcia cards give me problems and I updated the drivers for the aircard, to no avail.

Try running a spyware remover as well, something like adaware which is free and very good.
Also check the Macafee site has the virus listed and if there are any manual steps for finding and removing it you can try.
