When trying to make a backup of a movie, I get the following error when using Decrypter first: I/O Error! Device [0:0:0] HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8168B 0D20 (D(ATA) ScsiStatus: 0x02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDM: 28 00 00 1E 67 A0 00 00 01 00 Interpretation: Read(10) - Sector 1992608 Sense Area F0 00 03 00 1E 67 A0 0A 00 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 00 Interpretaion: Unrecovered Read Error ------------------- When trying DVD Shrink first, I get a cyclic redundancy error. @dj928 Without knowing the movie this can mean: The disc is dirty/scratched or a bad press. Or Shrink and Decrypter can't handle the copy protection. So try cleaning off the disc or rip the movie with dvdfab decrypter which is still updated to handle the latest copy protections. http://dvdidle.com/free.htm
Well stated Binkie and a good choice of freeware. I'd like to make another suggestion to give another option. There's the retail app AnyDVD. Using AnyDVD (which runs in the background) with DVD Decrypter set to default with CSS Cracking off, Check For Struture Protection unchecked, and the SPTI or ElbyCDIO interface selected, The DVD Decrypter can be used to rip as it normally would be. (AnyDVD also includes a ripper with FixVTS for processing the more difficult releases.) But [bold]with AnyDVD, the current software can be used as it has in the past with no new technique involved.[/bold] There's a full function 3 week trial available for download. http://www.slysoft.com/ Just turn it on, and when the little red fox is on the taskbar, it's working. I use AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter all the time. Whether with the DVDFab Decrypter suggested by Binkie or the AnyDVD, if you keep having the errors, you'd best follow Binkie's advice and check the source disk.
Nothing really special on that release and I don't remember any heavy copyright protection. How'd it turn out with the other software?
