what exactly is a "port scan attack"?
my firewall claim it blocked one.

a hacker tried to find out what ports are open on your pc by scanning the ports.. if you have a firewall and you get this message, then that means you safely blocked him this time.

If you got his ip, look up a program called slap, it will (try to) send a message of your creation to all the ports of the ip address, quite useful, if not satisfying.
