Solved previous problem by doing a system restore to disable recent windows update that was causing Clone problems. Now after clone completes the movies and in the creating movies stage it pops up as Creation of DVD files not successful C:\ProgramFiles\ElaborateBytes\CloneDVD2\eraser\PAL\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO:unable to open file System can not find file specified. I did nothing different from all the successful times. Word documents have been getting hung up all day and been sending error reports.Could C: have some issues relative to the error above? Input??
Did you try deleting AnyDVD from Add Remove in the Control Panel and doing a fresh install. Remember to save your key and the serial in a safe location. You'll need the key to reactivate the program. Run a reg cleaner before the install if you have one. Remember to check your settings.
Still on trial version of anydvd so there is not key. I am happy with both anydvd and clone and will purchase. Did not think the anydvd would have this sort of impact on clone during the creating stage... will try your suggestion now...will update thanks alot!!
Brobear As for regular cleaner, I do regular scan via panda. As far checking the settings, anything in particular here. I saved them in the default mode once download was complete. I swear I am not stupid... Anydvd keeps asking me if i want to update even on trial basis but have held of as I have read other post that involved the update causing problems.
To be on the sure side it might be an idea to reload both apps. Your report of problems is similar to some others. Still, the majority of users aren't having the problems, me included.
Not questioning your smarts at all. Some people have preferred settings they get used to and don't remember they're not default settings. With the load over some settings stay the same, but may change with the fresh installation. Sometimes the Safe Mode is on when it shouldn't be.
Did and uninstall, install of most recent version of any and clonedvd, then restart. Clone was worse than ever in that it would not detect E drive, browse, close. Did system restore back to last tuesday and clone is reading the movie fine now. Now creating and completing is a different story as I am using yet another movie. Time will tell. So far I know that at least some windows updates caused a few problems till system restore. I have no problems last week!!! When it works it is great but when it sucks...it really really sucks. I have the spent the last 3 hours researching and trail error and have yet to back this movie.
Have you contacted slysoft yet? I've heard some people are having troubles, but nothing about solutions. A lot of people are using the system restore to get their software going, but that just bypasses the problem, not fix it.
Window XP. Am really tapped out as to what the problem is. Still researching as to solving it, not getting around it. For now, am back to experimenting with DVD Dec. and DVD Shrink...time will tell will that. Will certainly forward any light bulb moments or the like.
Seems there's some head scratching, but nothing found so far that's of much help. Most people seem to be doing okay with the updates.
Listened to the Kim Kommando show and she spoke of the recent windows update that has caused alot of conflict with HP devices, printers, drives etc. So the Clone problem was probably related. She also said that the problems will probably be resolved around tuesday when the next update roll around. Interesting enough. Thankfully have DVDDce/Shrink to use too. If you know of others experiencing the same, please pass this on to them. Thanks for all your help. Merri
brobear, I just want to ask a dumb question. Earlier you said "Remember to save your key and the serial in a safe location", when I got my files I burned them to a CD as well as putting them in a few directories on the computer. I assumed that if I ever had a bigtime failure I would just reload the the trial software; put the files back on my desktop; and click. Are you saying I'm supposed to find a serial number somewhere too?
I have AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2 and I'm running XP Home. No issues whatsoever with the updates from the last Tuesday. Noteworthy: Microsoft is aware of the Conflicts with Office Programs, and HP Share to Web. They are releasing a "fix" for this update this Tuesday. All should be well then, If indeed that is what is causing problems. I install all Critical Updates from MSFT and I indeed installed the one that has affected some peoples Office Programs. But No Issues with AnyDVD or CloneDVD 2. I easily backed up my Hostel Movie with the Combo without a hitch.
Well everyone, Slysoft updated AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2 on 4/21. If you don't have the latest, it's time to get it. Not sure, but it may help with previous problems. Irish13 If you have to contact slysoft for any reason, they want a serial. Look in the About window when you open the app. AnyDVD will stay activated as long as the new versions are loaded over the old. If you get a crash or need to delete before installing, you'll need the key to reactivate.
Thank you brobear, that makes sense. So your saying if I want to update, just click on the newer version and it will overright the older one. Super! I am going to write the serials down for both ANYDVD and CloneDVD2 which I bought recently in case of a castastrophy. Thanks again.
Another reason for backing up the key. If an app gets corrupted or starts acting up for whatever reason, it's a good idea to delete in Add Remove and do a clean install. There you need your key. As I said, I've heard Slysoft likes to have the serial, so they know they're dealing with an actual customer. You might be surprised at what some people try. Normally if you're just updating AnyDVD, all you do is load over the older version and your software stays activated.
