I have been troubled with this problem for about a month now, and i hope the smart people of afterdawn can help me... i have an 100 GB External Hard drive.... FIll IT UP TO THE MAX then erase a lot of the things leaving like 95 GB free... Then try to save an ISO about 4 GB big with DVD Decrypter.. and it says that my hard drive does not have enough space... but i have 95 GB free... even if i try to transfer the ISO through folder to folder from my main hard drive to the external it will tell me the same thing... ANY SUGGESTIONS? oh yeah... and the file system on my main INTERNAL hard drive is NTFS, if the file system on the External Hard Drive is FAT32, does that have anything to do with it? thanks in advance for anyones help....
Fat32 does not support files larger than 4GB. Have you defragmented recently? Check your USB cable (if it's an USB enclosure).
It's really simple. And to answer your question, you will NOT lose a thing. Follow the directions here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/convertfat.mspx Scroll down and read the part about using Convert.exe
