If a DVD meant for PAL systems is ripped to .AVI, will this affect the playback on NTSC televisions?

I burnt 'Rock n' Roll High School' twice, using X2DVD and both times my DVD deck told me to check my tv system. When I attempted to burn it with Nero, it told me it had PAL info within the code.

    So what's the deal here?

    thanks in advance!

Yep it will - unless the player accepts both PAL & NTSC.
So in Nero when you get the message something like 'mostly pal format do you want to keep pal format' click No. Nero will convert it to NTSC.

    Editted to add:
Since you already have converted the files you may want to try the vobblanker method. Much less time involved. The discs will usually be playable in a standalone.
