ok having some problems, my hard drive has lost its format, there is some very important information on there, is there any way i can access it? or am i screwed and need to reformat the drive and take the lose.
No it is not a total loss. As long as you can still connect it to a working windows PC, you can use Disk Recovery programs to recover files that were deleted, or in this case formatted over. The deleted files remain on the drive until you write over the sectors with new data. Google around for some freeware recovery tools, or try here... http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/filerecoverysecdownload.html Hope this helps!
If you have just deleted the partition then you can just recover that and the info will be there as before. There may be free programs you can find, or there is a link to a commercial version for $30 http://www.partition-recovery.com/price.htm
