I have been trying to copy tape from my DVD player to my sony handcam using an ilink cable with no success. The Sony rep told me that I have to have a DVD player with a DV out port on it in order to be able to do this. Can anyone help?

You must also have DV/IN on your camcorder. If you have connect up both devices with a firewire cable. Hit play on the DVD Player then hit record on the camcorder. All this should be outlined in your manual.

you can try to connect up both devices using video/Audio jack and activate "A/V->DV out" in your sony camcorder.
