Ok so my dumbass goes to best buy to take the lazy way out and buy a pre-built system....I know I know so anyway. I get it home and of course it comes with all the bells and whistles and this media center CRAP but I'm good because I have a windows xp pro cd right? I'll just reformat and re-install right? WRONG wouldn't work. Said please insert disk. So I take it back. Said it had a virus. They gave me a new one with little to no hassle but I'm still in the same boat. Im a perfectionist and uninstalling dont work for me. I know its in the registry. So my question is how do I install it? I mean I put the disk in and it says my os is newer than the one on the cd and wont install. What do I do?
An original XP Pro CD is bootable. Put it in the drive, reboot and make sure your bios can/is set to boot from CD before HDD. Run the install, remove all partitions and format the drive. You should be good to go. ~Rich
