Thanx guys for the help on finding and using this program. It seemed to work for the most part, but the quality on my first try was fairly poor. Also one of our dvd players didn't recognize the format. Our new dvd player was able to play it, but not our old one.

I'm using LimeWire to download, DivX to encode, and Nero to burn (free versions of each). And I'm using dvd-r's rather than dvd+r's; I don't know if that makes a difference. Is there any adjustments that I can make that will help? Thanx in advance!

What brand of media are you using? You need to use good quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Made in Japan labeled Fuji or Sony. Also don't burn in excess of 1/2 the rated speed of the media--is a good rule of thumb.

I'm using Sony. How do you change burn speed?

At the bottom of the Express window, click the Nero button. This will take you to the Nero Burning ROM program. Click the Burn tab. Change the speed in the Write Speed menu. You can then click the Nero Express button to return to the Express window if you desire.

If your burner supports booktyping, you may want to use DVD+ media and booktype it to DVD-ROM. DVD- media can't be booktyped.

Also, take a look at the links in my signature. You can lookup your standalone DVD players to check for media compatibility.
