thanks ddp, does anybody have any recommendations from your own experience for a power supply 500-550w
The standard wisdom, and I agree with this 100%, is to buy a recognized name brand power supply. Since everything rises and falls on your power supply I suggest thses brands: Enermax, Fortran, and Antec (the TruePower, not SmartPower). Go to NewEgg.com or ZipZoomFly.com Also, if you don't mind here are some suggestions: 1. CPU -- seriously consider the X2 3800+ and save some money. 2. Don't get a SLi motherboard if you are not going to run two video cards and even if you do, the increase gained is not worth the cost. Get a good non-SLi and save the money. 3. Now take the money you saved and spend it on a better video card and a better brand. Check out the ATI x1900 series or the Nvidia 7900 series.
ok I have both cpu's the X2 3800+ and the X2 4200+ both I got for free I was going to sell the 3800+ on ebay and build on the 4200+ but,is the 3800+ better?,the mobo has already been bought I don't do alot of gaming I only bought it because it looked cool(I know,I know)
You got [bold]both[bold] for free?!? Wow! I'd love to be able to own either one! I guess go ahead and sell the 3800+ then. Now as for your power supply. Let me repeat, go name brand and nothing under 480 watts.
