    Gentlemen,

First of all let me thank everyone who has participated in the process of informing others how to unlock Razr V3. Thanks to skrabbins, who brought the instructions to this forum. Thanks to all of you who has contributed. If you are experienced then jump to the end where it saies "For Experienced users"

I myself several days ago started trying to unlock the Razr v3 phone of mine without success. I finaly got it working today and would like to share some thoughts that I wish others had told me before.

First of all, if you have a Razr v3 phone and would like to unlock it, I would recommend reading this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/18/283892 by scabbins, which I think was originated from: http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic43620.html or perhaps from http://forums.mobiledia.com/cgi-bin...w.motox.info/showthread.php?p=53127#post53127

Now, I know that many of you, just like me are very new to all this, so let me tell you some things that I ws wondering about and might be a shortcut to you:

    1. CellPhones have something like a Operating System, and also a BootLoader, which loads the Operating System. You can view the version of the Bootloader and the software(Operating System) of the phone by holding down * # and pressing Power button when the phone is turned OFF.

    2. You will often hear terms "Put the phone in Flash" or "Flash the Phone". When they say put the phone in Flash, it means, turn it off, hold down * # and press Power button. What happens is that you will see text displaied on screen with the version of bootloader and version of software( SW ).

    3. After you read the above mentioned tutorials keep some points in mind: First, If your Bootloader version ends on 26, and you use the "Downgrader" software mentioned in tutorial, there will be a point while running downgrader, when it will stop and tell you it is waiting for phone. (This happened only once, when it was waiting for a while) what I did is put the phone in flash mode manualy, that is I pressed * # and Power. After doing so Downgrader continued working and finished sucessfully. After putting the phone in Flash mode again, you will notice that now the Bootloader version is 7D0.

*Note: Flashing a phone means reinstalling the System software on it. "Flash the phone with "somefilename.shx" means taking "somefilename.shx" file and using smartmoto(software) or RSD Lite(software) to rewrite the system software with a new one contained in "somefilename.shx".

Now, If you did everything the way tutorial suggested, but The phone still tells you to "Contact Service Operator" be calm, and dont start shooting neighnpours. I will consider you as an experienced user from now on, and read how to make it work in next section:

    For Experienced users:
If you tried all that is saied in tutorial, and phone is still locked, then you are in the same situation that I was. Here's what you need to do: (by the way I found solution by reading all messages in http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic43620.html so credit goes to guys there)

you will need to do this:
    1. Downgrde bootloader if you have 26 version.
    2. Install OLDER version of software(SW) on phone. ( Dummies, this means Flushing the phone with old version of .SHX file) I found those files on this site: http://www.planetmotox.net/monster_packs.php and for the old version I used: R374_G_0E.40.79R_MOTOX.shx .

(Dummies notice, put the phone in flash mode, connect the usb cable and flash the phone using smartmoto or any other software that you prefer with the above mentioned file).

Important Note 1: Afte this phone might not reload (dummies, I mean by this that you will not be able to start the phone as you did, you will see a blank dark screen.

Do not panic, put the phone in flash mode again and run the Unlocker mentioned in tutorial. This time it will work, but you still will not be able to start(reload) phone.

what you need now is to flush newer version of System software on phone, I used R374_G_0E.42.10R.shx from here: http://www.planetmotox.net/monster_packs.php

now the phone will reboot, and will be unlocked!

Note, flushing deleted all my data and phonebook entries, you might want to back them up using Motorola phone tools before you flash the phone.

Thats it. If what I wrote will help at least 1 person, my words have served the purpose! And remember, always read threads carefuly before asking questions. I learned this hard way :)

i followed all the procedure, i had 8.26, 1st downgrade bootloader then i used smartmoto 1.19, to flash to R374_V3BL 07.D0.shx, then i used the motorola unlocker 2005 and it told me that worked succesfully, but nothing, it told me to contact service provider, then i followed the second alternative ,so i flashed to R374_G_0E.40.79R_MOTOX.shx, i avoided dowgrading coz ive already downgraded the bootloader so i directly flashed to R374_G_0E.40.79R_MOTOX.shx, then i got the blank screen i went to flash mode then , run the motorola unlocker 2005 and it told me that woked succesfully and i only have a different os no more cingular welcome pics but the same problem, it told me to contact service provider it is still locked, so what should i do

have you tried starting it up in boot mode? (hash, star and power at the same time)... hold em down for a few secs. if its a v3, i may be able to send you on the software plus passwords to reflash your fone. anyone else looking to unlock a v3 (only) i have the software that i purchased and am happy and willing to pass on to others. i too searched for free versions till i was blue in the face!!! But the software i bought worked a treat. also some extras on there. kevindoc553@msn.com

The software and method in mobiledia will work with fone that made before Dec 2005, it will not work with fone made after that date.

All you have to do is google for P2k Easy tool 3.7 to unlock you fone.
This software will unlock V3 bootloader 8.26 with out you have to down grade the bootloder, this software will do it for you.

    Hey

i have a v3 Razr that wont recognize any sim cards. I know that its a fido (Canadian Carrier) phone but for some reason it wont recognize the sim card. I've tried other carrier sim cards but it doesnt work, also the battery its pretty screwed up and when i try to charge it, it says invalid battery, but i still got it to charge. Any ideas?
