cd drive wont open

    just installed an internal DVD writer and put the shell back on. The lights indicate the DVD drive has power, yet the device will not open for me to install the software for the DVD writer. What could be the problem? Each device appears to be powered, the dvd writer opens, just not the dvd driver.

    I don't think I understand this:

    I assume you mean that when you push the open/close button on the drive, the drive tray will not come forth. Is this correct? Is the burner mounted in My Computer? If it is, can you right click on the drive icon and select the Eject command?

    I am only guessing that you mean that the tray won't open correct??
