ok heres the problem, my internet works fine when its connected to the router and im getting a port from the router, but when i disconnect the router and connect the internet directly to my computer, the internet does not work.. the main problem is that my modem does not recognize that the PC is connected to it (because the PC LIGHT does not flash) but when the router is connected then it fully recognizes it, the light flashes, and i connect to the internet.

if anyone knows how to fix this plz tell me

    Im using Rogers Internet (CANADA)
    SMC7004VBR router
and a Dell Dimension 8200 Computer

Make sure that your computers IP is not manually assigned. Change it to allow an IP to be assigned automatically, and you should be good to go.
