lol, you know im not actually sure, but im pretty sure you can, in my PC case i the HD cage has space for 6 HD's
It really depends on your motherboard. Older IDE setups have Primary and Secondary IDE. Both with master and a slave . If a cd or dvd burner is on the secondary IDE, then that leaves space for 3 hard drives. If you have a newer board with both SATA and IDE hookups then you are limited to how many hard drives will fit in your tower. I have 2 matching 120 gb drives as my master or C: drive in a Raid 0 setup. But it could just as easily be 3 or 4 drives in the Raid 0 setup. Plus another 200 gb drive as a D: drive. I have space and hook ups for 2 more drives plus I have an external 250 gb USB/IEEE drive.
From this link : http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4400/specs.htm#1101572 and: You have an older system that will only support 4 IDE devices in total. Unless you add an IDE controller on a PCI card. I would [bold]NOT[/bold] recommend it because at 250watts your power supply may not be able to handle the load.
So to answer your question. Yes,[bold]YOU[/bold] can have 3 hard drives in your computer. that is assuming that you do not already have 4 IDE devices installed , ie, 2 hard drives and 2 burners.
Consider the power supply here too. The more gear you add, the more power you need. You may want to invest in a good power supply that will provide enough good clean power to support your new equipment. ~Rich
You have 2 ways to go here : http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/con...l-Dimension+4400&distributor=0&submit1=Search You have a 1.5 or 1.7 ghz P4 CPU. Your Motherboard supports up to 2.4 ghz P4. The easiest and cheapest way is to do a brain transplant and upgrade your CPU. If you buy a new current mobo and chip, then you will need matching or faster ram, maybe a PCI express video card , more/better power supply , possibly new and faster hard drive [SATA 150] instead of your IDE ATA100. Bottom line you might as well buy a whole new computer..
