Hay, i brought a new sound card for my second PC because the onboard sound just packed up and nothing would get it going again. I installed the sound card and it worked fine, then when the PC was restarted the boot screen went through etc etc then when it's meant to get to the login screen it's just blank as if it is on permanent stand by and nothing will get it going, if i leave it for 10-15 minutes it then loads, but the sound card no longer works. So i took the sound card out and the computer booted up fine no problems, but no sound of course. I put the sound card back in same problem stuck on stand by for 10-15 minutes and when the PC does load up there is no sound. I dont think there is anyting wrong with the sound card because i tried it on my main computer and it worked fine. Just a thought, could it be re-installing the on board sounds drivers? because i just checked my hardware profiles and the on board sound drivers have been re-installed i've uninstalled them and the new sound card it working now. Could that be it? if so how do i stop the on board sound driver re-installing? Anyone have any ideas?
Have you disabled the onboard sound in your bios? After doing so remove the onboard sound drivers again.Do that and then reinstall the new card.
