Why does the K8N Neo4 Platnum motherboard not recognize the AMD X2 4800+ dual core processor?
I have the latest bios installed.
When turning on computer with 4800+ it will power up but showing nothing on the screen.
With the 3800+ it works fine.

Yea,I see...that's strange.Did you check to see what the revision number is on your processor? Maybe the rev.# has something to do with it.I'll look around the net and see if I can find any similar experiences from other users. In the mean time,if you find out something let us know.

You would think MSI would at least have the same info on all of their sites!

    Good Luck.

You wouldn't happen to have another board to try would you?
Also,I'm not sure which bios you have but I did find some updated versions that appeared to be cpu identification related fixes.

    ***Edit***

Well after a lot of reading I can tell you these boards do have issues but I could not find one single instance of the problem that you are experiencing...maybe that 4800 is the problem.

Yes, it may need to be flashed.

It should, you should be able to go straight to the newest bios version, also make sure to get the latest chipset drivers from the Nvidia website.Don't use any on the cd they gave you except for maybe the nic drivers(just so you can get on line) Here's the link for the latest chipset drivers http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

    Problem Fixed.
I needed a bios update to recognize the 4800+.
Bios version 1.9 fixed the problem.
Had to use a AMD X2 3800+ CPU so the computer would boot up so i could flash the bios.
