Hi all, I have an existing WIndows XP set-up with one hard drive. I was thinking about adding another drive and someone suggested I should try RAID for my set-up. Question: Can I do this without having to reinstall Windows and loose everything I have on Drive #1? If I have to re-format Drive #1 and re-install everything I likely won't bother with it. Also, how critical is it that both drives are identical, and new? Thanks, Seato.
Hi, no you will have to reinstall O/S. Drives in a RAID array should be identical but I have configured a number of arrays with similar drives -- the capacity has to be identical.
Thanks so much for your reply. I thought as much but wanted to check for sure on the OS part. I could always buy the 2nd drive the same as the 1st one, so that is no problem but starting everything from scratch is just too much work for now! Cheers, Seato.
