So, im thinking of hooking up dual monitors for my computer.. nothing spectacular or anything, i just want a smaller lcd for Palettes in Photoshop and After Effects and such. My question is this:

If my main 20" widescreen Dell monitor is running at 1600x1250 res, than does the second monitor have to run/support this res to run right? or would i have to dumb down my main res on the 20" to match the little secondary monitor?

Hope that makes sense.. thanks in advance for the help.1

You should be able to run your monitors with independant resolutions. I've been running dual monitors for some time now and highly recommend an app called UltraMon. It's the slickest thing around and makes running duals so much easier and handy. It's worth every penny to me :)
