My modem died a month ago (which did connect at 44k-45k) so my frind gave this modem http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16825138102 it connects at (46.6k) almost everytime, Which is a good speed for where i live. But for some reason it pauses the connection for about 6 secs then resumes at random time's.

So i got a cheap one from neweggs and it was a pos and connected at 38.1k-40k max.

So i decided to try to get a new modem again well today i bought this http://secure.stratitec.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_135&products_id=830 from wal-mart and i put it in and i get 34.2k-36k always so i plan to take it back also. =(

Im back on the first modem the pauses again =/ and was wondering if anyone knows a fix? Or does anyone know if this modem is worth the trouble? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2017765

I cant get DSL or BB where i live so im stuck with dial up and dont want slow speed's when i dont have to have them =/. Does anyone know a fix? i really need help =/

When you swapped all these modems, did you uninstall the drivers? If not you may have conflicts which would explain the slow downs.

Also, did you check your IRQ settings? Is there more than one modem there?
