Hello, i have an Abit IS7 MOBO with two sticks of Kingston 512 pc3200 400Mhz running dual channel in slot 1 and slot 3. If i go out and get a 1 GIG stick of pc3200 400Mhz memory of a differnt brand or even the same brand and put it in slot 2 or 4, probably 2, will that interfeir with the two that are running dually. or will it simply be 1GIG running dually and 1GIG running normal for a total of 2 GIG's. Thanx for any replies.

If it is like my Asus board, it will reduce it to Single Channel Mode.

o.k. scratch everything i said here. I am going to get som corsair memory. it's called twinx pc3200c2 pro or 3200c2 pt. anyways the new qestion is would it be better to use 2 1GIG sticks running dually or 4 512MB sticks running dually, filling up all four slots and all should work dually that way if i'm right, because they are all paired. or is there a such that is having to get the 4 512GIG sticks all in one package. Thanx much

You have to check your motherboard manual to see what you can install in your computer. You may just want to add 2 512MB sticks to what you have already.

CAS timings are faster on 512 sticks then they are 1Gs. However, that is changing with some 1G sticks on the higher priced mods from Crucial, and Corsair.

I run 4x512 just fine....as long as you have the PSU to supply it with. Most consume up to 25 watt per every 256mb of ram.

Barely...depending on what other hardware you're running. It's considered to be the minimum these days...may be time to up the power to 500w.
