Everytime when i turn my computer on, the inital test screen loads fine, then goes goes to a black screen with the text "Disc Read Error" "Press clt + alt + delete" (to restart the computer) after i do that, sometime couple times, sometime once, then windows xp will start up. anyone know what the problem is and what i can do to fix this?
possible your hd might be dying. reseat the data & power cables between the drive, motherboard & psu.
if the data cable/power cable is faulty, then it would permenantly won't boot in, but in my case it will boot in after doing clt+alt+delete couples.
possible oxidation on pins were cable connectors go therefore reason to reseat cables. also download diagnostic software from hd manufacturer to see if drive is good or dying.
i ran the hdd diagnostic tool on the drive and everything pass on it. and its still giving me the same message at computer start up.
check in the bios or when windows loads to see what the current time & date is as the motherboard battery might have died giving you that error.
