    Guys,

I have become so god damn frustrated, not one damn tutorial that gives LINKS to the softwares required, that WORKS all the way!!!. First of, the tutorials shown at various sites including this site use a version that are not the same as the one recommened in the required softwares sections on the same page (i am specifically refering to the dvd rebuilder guide). Second of all, some links don't even work!! like the EclCCE.exe (required for the CCE trial software), it takes me to the doom9 forum, i register, and the got damn thing does not download.I get something in russian.

Look at the guide for dvd rebuilder, the version used in the screen shot is 0.54 (beta), but the downloaded file is 0.97.

I am a newbie and my BIGGEST REQUEST is please, please, give a guide that is exactly identical to the links given for the softwares required, also PLEASE make sure that the links work. I do not mean to be rude or anything, just asking for clear direction.

I am sure all of you were once newbies and eventually became pros. Of course, that did not happen over night. The problem todays newbies face is that there are tons of softwares, so where the heck does one start. To top it, if the newbie does follow links to tons of softwares without any proper guidance, it does get frustrating.

If any of you identify with me, please help me with this.

A newbiew want: A clear guide for DVD REBUILDER with links that work and are the same version as the one used in the tutorial.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Shawn

Tell us what exactly you would like to do with Rebuilder and I'm sure you will get all the info you need.

I feel your pain, Shawn, but, remember, we all contribute for free... Some of these software applications update fairly often. The majority of contributors create these guides in their spare time. DVDRebuilder's Help Files really are very helpful. Then, there's always the forum here. Many of the experienced users won't hesitate to post a "mini guide" to get you through specific trouble spots!!! Exercise some patience; Rebuilder is excellent... We all stumbled upon a rough spot or two!!!

I totally understand what your saying. I am going through the same thing right now. Just downloaded rebuilder and CCE v2.67.00.27 and all the guides I have found are of the old versions. It makes it really hard to set up rebuilder when the guides were trying to follow have old menus that aren't the same as the new versions. Does anyone know of an updated guide to set up Rebuilder 0.97 with CCE v2.67.00.27. Thanks

If the initial set-up is what you guys are having problems with, try this page:

    http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=14

Scroll down to the second download, it is the installer for 0.97 Free version. It will take care of most (possibly all) of your initial set-up, including setting up CCE to work with DVD-RB free. Hopes this helps to get the ball rolling, keep us updated and don't be hesitant to ask specific questions. As stated before, we were all newbies at one point in time :) (I'm still a newbie in many aspects myself).

    Guys,

Thanks for all the suggestions. To all the senior members (especially teflonmyk, Senior Member), I apologise if my earlier message offended you'll in any way, I was merely stating a fact that the guides need to be more precise. I do understand that these guides are made by those people who have spared their time to enable newbies like me, and i thank you all for that. I was not in any way saying that the guides in here are 'a waste of time', in fact, I must admit, had I not come across so many guides, i would not have even known such softwares exsist. Yes, I could have refined or organised the way I expressed myself... so once again thanks and no hard feelings.

The links and suggestions provided to my request are definitely useful and i will try it and give my views on the software, possibly even tips, when I understand the software completely.

    Cheers,

    Shawn

I know of at least 3 members, here at AfterDawn & DVDHounds, are trying to work on a new guide for Rebuilder. I want to help with the making of that guide, too! But, like Teflonmyk said, we do this as a hoby, in our spare time and just look at DVDRebuilder! It's one hell of a program..... I've been using it since May or June of 2005 and have the Pro version and still I am learning on what it can do! It's amazing... I keep learning! To have an extensive guide for this one program with all it's facets would be wayyyyyyyyy too much reading if all the things that it does was touched upon in a guide! Right now there are steps and different links to everything that it does.... hidden settings, filters, matrieses.... it's just too much. When someone tries to do a guide.... it just keep growing and growning and I don't even think that JDobbs has a full guide for everyone to follow! And then what do you do? Do the free version or the Pro version? Or both?? so much... it would be like reading an encyclopedia from A-Z! It's not that easy to make a guide! If it were then everyone would have it!

www.filehippo.com is a great site to find legitimate programs from various software makers, most are demo/shareware but if you are looking to try out a program before you buy it, here is the site to go to.

    http://www.filehippo.com/software/dvd/

here are most of the above mentioned programs

Man the dvd-rb installer vs is a godsend compared to what we used to have to do to dl and set it up prior to the installer. If nothing else first try it with hc encoder (comes bundled with installer). You can always add and set up cce.

    Shawn:

No offense taken. Just merely stating that the softwares are often ahead of our tutorials (Well, not mine... I haven't done one yet...)

I know that you often times wanna do what you wanna do, RIGHT now, and all the tools are not always in place... We are all peers here, and we have to poke and prod each other along at times. Now that you are a member, and you know how it is to be in need of a guide/tutorial; maybe you will someday be one of the members with a guide that helps "newbs" day in and day out... Teach and learn...

I agree that DVD rebuilder has outdated tutorials and is not user friendly. Ive been trying to get the .97 version to work with no luck. I keep getting error messages and have yet to encode even one disc. Ive worked with DVD shrink, DVD Decrypter, FABDecrypter, VOB Blanker, ANYDVD and CloneDVD and have gotten them all to work with no problem. Rebuilder is too buggy for me.

No offense but dvd-rebuilder is not buggy and is as easy to use as most transcoding aps. It is a little more involved and difficult setting up but once set up nothing compares imho. If you want to try it with HC encoder or QuEnc all you need to do is click on the link in my sig and the dl the free installer vs. You can add cce or procoder later once you get a feel for the software.

Ditto to RB not being buggy... The most difficult part is telling it where your encoder files are located. But, keep this in mind- YOU put the files in their respective directories!!! Be mindful of what you are saving and where, and RB is a cinch to set up. You can't just go mindlessly installing apps all over the place. Most updates since the 0.96 involve third party app version changes and and even MORE user friendly UI.

I havent been as lucky as most in getting rebuilder to work. I think I finally had gotten it set up corrctly but the first two discs I tried encoding gave me run time errors when they worked flawlessly with shrink hence the buggy comment.

I just like to add my .02 to this thread. I have been using DVD-RB for about 2 months--I downloaded and printed every guide, even outdated ones, I could find on Rebuilder, the free as well as the pro. Between 4 or 5 guides, I was able to set up Rebuilder very easy and every single backup I have done has been successful. Rebuilder is fantastic.

@nbudsdon..... you did what I did what everyone has done and got it right..... works great all the time with great quality! Some don't take the time to set it up correctly.... hence the bug comments!
