IDE or SATA?

    hi i was about to order a new hard drive and make it into an external one, i don't really know if IDE or SATA will matter and thus will be compatable with my laptop, i have a compaq prescario m2000 and the HDD i was looking at is the Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 300GB ST3300622A ATA-100 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-068-SE)
    i understand i have to get a case also.

    which does your laptop have in ports- usb1, usb2 or firewire? get the ide hd.

    Western Digital makes a good all around external. Various capacities. They are plug and play, not a lot to go wrong. I have one for storage and backup. People complain about external drives for being slow, but, concider what they are for, storage. Seagate, WD any name brand is good. Price will be comparable to making your own. "I need spell checker."

    yeah, it's usb2 i think it should be ok just wanted to get other oppinions to make sure it would be ok

    than get a usb2 3.5" hd enclosure & the hd
