i want to buy a 300gb hard drive.
set my eyes on the DiamondMax 10 6L300S0 this is the model with the SATA/150, and then i stumbled on the 6V300F0 which is also from the DiamondMax 10 family but its a sata/300 (sata 2)
    my questions is:

can i connect a sata/300 hard drive to my sata/150 connection on my motherboard , and will it work?

does the 6L300S0 comes with ncq

and what's the difference between DiamondMax 10 series and the maxline III with the 250gb and 300gb hard drives?

Hi, yes it will work except in rare cases(boards). If you install Sata 2 drives on Sata 1 controllers the drive will function at a slightly slower speed..

    Yes the 6L300S0 has NCQ.......http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Maxtor_6L300S0

The Diamondmax series performs just about the same as the Maxline but the Maxline has the edge.

The real difference is in the claimed reliability of the drive.
Maxline carries a 5 Year warrenty and logic would suggest it is the more reliable.
Diamondmax carries a 3 Year warrenty ans of course is cheaper for the same capacity...........whichever you choose, do yourself a huge favour and drop $20 bucks on a hard drive cooler........later
