i try to encode the main movie only ( when a stranger calls) with two differ encoders, the original size is 4.45gb(main movie only)..
i use CCE sp 270 and get output size is 2.68gb.
and HC encoder v0.18 the output size is 4.3gb.
    why are they so differ?
is it normal or am i doing something wrong??
    thanx for any help...

Open DVD Rebuilder and then go to settings, CCE Settings and select CCE SP Trial and that should take care of it. I'm betting that you've been selecting just CCE SP and that will cause the undersizing.

I am also for the first time experiencing strange output file sizes with DVDRB Pro(1.09.3). In fact since I have been usintg DVDRB Pro/CCE these are the first problems I have encountered. I processed the DVD "DOOM" which is 7.5GB in total. I selected Movie Only in Rebuilder/CCE and ended up with a file size of 3.95GB. The movie portion of the DVD is approx 5.27GB. Now maybe 3.95GB is within permitted parameters but normally my output from DVD Rebuilder/CCE output is at least in excess of 4GB's and typically 4.33GB's. My settings are as I always have them, default.

Not a serious problem but an odd one for sure, 3.95 does fall within acceptable limits considering the size of the original. Have you played it all the way through to check it for anomalies?

Dvd-rebuilder default dvd5 size is 2236400. I altered mine to 2500000 because there was just to much space at the end of a burnt disc, when you change the size in your ini file you will see the output size increase.

NOTE: BEWARE even though the output size (2500000) works for me it might not for others. Youv'e been warned.

Sophocles the output fron Rebuilder/CCE is it's usual high quality result. I just thought it may have been better to utilise all the available space on the DVD +R and the fact that other DVD's came out at 4.33GB although I can't be sure of their original size. I wonder if it's because I selected main movie only, the logic being it still takes into account the space that would have been taken up by the trailers and extras if they had been included.

    @pazzini
Thanks for the tip will give it a whirl.

Update: pazzini I can't find any reference to that figure 2236400. Is it the Rebuilder.ini file created in the D2VAVS folder. I did examine Rebuilder.ecl and Rebuilder.ini files in DVDRB-Pro and D2VAVS folders with no luck. What value does it represent.

What you have to do is write Targetsectors=2500000 (or the number of your choice) in the ini file inbetween [paths] and [options].

the next time you load up rebuilder you will notice a jump in the output size.

The ini file is called "Rebuilder configuration settings"

Right click on your rebuilder shortcut on your destktop
click on properties then click on find target
in there you will find the ini file (rebuilder configuration settings).

double click on the file and do what I said above.

EDIT: It might be a good idea to just leave the ini file alone as any mistakes you make could have dire consequences.

You can edit target sectors but editing them can also cause sizing problems with some DVD so it's no quick fix. Try another DVD and see if it also has a sizing problem.
