I'v been making a compilation of various non-protected DVDs to put on one DVD-R disc.
Everything is fine except when i've burned the disc and play it, i notice the video appears juddery, its like when a video freezes for a split second and then catches up with itself. I don't know if its dropped frames or what but does anyone know why this happens.
    Thanks

Two most likely causes are the brand of media used and the burn speed.

What brand of discs did you use and what speed did you burn at?

I tried it first on sony DVD-RW (at 1-2x) and then i tried Maxell DVD-R which i think burned at 8x. But i got the same problem both times.
Is it possible its because there is 1hr40 going on a 4.7GB disc? I'm burning it in standard play quality on nero vision 4 and i really don't want to have keep the disc length down to 1hr

If you post the burn log, we can see if there is anything you can fix. Bad media, firmware out of date, and burning too fast can cause freezing/ pixilating. The best way to solve this is for you to post a log, and we will look at it.
    [bold]Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt[/bold]

These things record all burns, and we only need the last one. The burns are seperated by something like this:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ======

    Windows XP 5.1
    IA32-xxxx-xxxx-
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

that was from a Nero 6 log, but 7 looks much like that. Underneath the divider is the operating system, and right below that is the begining of the serial number. When posting a log, just include the last burn log, and be sure to edit out your serial numbers by typing xxxx over them, or deleting them before posting to the forum.

Please post the log from one of the locations given, and not the Vision burn log. I hate them. They give some answers, but not all, and the history log gives much more info.

You could update your Nero 7 to 7.0.8.2 the last good Nero 7 to come out.
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

You have enough memory, but it looks like you have many programs open. Shut down all programs not needed for burning as one of those programs may be giving Nero conflicts.
Looks like the NEC firmware is out of date
103C looks like the most current according to the firmware site.

    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2114

It looks like you got the whole burn log, and not just the last one. Look for the divider and underneath it on each one is your serial numbers:
go back to your post and click on the pencil and paper symbol. This will open up the edit post screen, and you can go back and type over or delete those numbers. You got the first one, but the rest of the burns have them in there.

897.7x?? Wow! That would be a very fast burn. 4x to 8x maximum burn speeds until you get issues resolved and even then i dont burn any faster than 8x. I think that might have come from the determine maximum speed measurement. I uncheck those along with making sure verify data is also unchecked.

The firmware update, and Nero update will probably be the best help. Ritek media is ok. I also suggest Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden discs. But do the updates first, and then try those riteks again. The drive might be able to burn them with updated firmware.
If after doing the updates, you still get failures, post the LAST burn log, and we will see what issues are still going on.

    Hi there again,
My silence was not because the problem was fixed but because I encountered more problems.
I was trying the things you suggested but,
    1) the Nero 7.0.8.2 update from the link is a demo. I hadn't realised when i installed it on my laptop and for some reason it caused NeroVision to stop working. I tried to delete it and reinstall my copy but it kept saying there was an installation "error please run nero installation". Its taken me a day to fix it, but i got there in the end. So is there an update which isn't a demo?
    2) The drivers for the ReWriter, doesn't work for some reason. It keeps saying "Target NEC ND-6650A is not found correctly". I've tried getting the drivers from another place but the same thng happens. Any ideas.
NB- My laptop is not connected to the internet so i am transferring files from my PC.
So i am still in the same position as i was but if you have any suggestions for the above problems i would be greatful. Thanks
