I have made over 10 coasters now and am getting quite annoyed. I tried to burn an AVI file to Nero using the "Make your own DVD-video" option. I put the video in (David Cross: Let America Laugh, 700 mb) and create my menu. I then burn it. It goes fine for the entire process, no error messages and when it's done it says "Burn successfully completed." But when I try to watch it after about 30 minutes it cuts out and says the disc cannot be read. This has happened 10+ times and it's really frusterating me. Any ideas what is going on or perhaps a "kbps-burning-option-type-dooey" I can reset and get all the data?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I will also add my process log:

This may not be a good answer, but you appear to be using Nero 7. Did you have version 6 installed before?

    "Nero API version: 7.0.0.0"
    "Using interface version: 6.6.0.12"
    "Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\"

Wait until someone else confirms, but you may need to go back and use a clean tool for Nero 6 and 7 and then reinstall 7. Just wait in case I am mistaken about the 6.6.0.12 possibly being a problem.

So, confirm this: Completely uninstall Nero 6 (I've still got it on my computer =\) then try 7?

Also, would this even help the fact that the data doesn't burn to the disc past 30 minutes?

This is the first version of Nero7, it was buggy. I would uninstall, run these clean tools http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html
and then install this version 7.0.8.2 from here http://www.filehippo.com click on Nero 7.2.0.3 and then select 7.0.8.2 for a bug free version

These need to be on, heres a guide to turn them on http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

These discs are crap, try some Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)

    Slow to 4X

The file on that filehippo says it is a trial. Should I like re-install Nero 7 and that trial will update it or something? Because I...er...paid for my Nero and would like to keep the full version. Or will the trial have full dvd-video burning options.

    Hi robinstud
    Here's some suggeestions for you:
Uninstall Nero 6 then run the clean tool:
    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html
Uninstall Nero 7 & run the clean tool:
    http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html
    (good catch Saltgrass!)

Update your nero to this version - 7.0.8.2. Here's a link:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

Update your firmware to help it w/ the read & write strategies of media. The latest version is A106.
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1973

Turn DMA back on for this drive. Here's a link:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038
82% of your memory is in use - so no multitasking and shut down any unnecessary process.
Ouch - dump this and try some Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell. The CMC cause many problems :) Playback and burning.
Take this down to 4x - better media you can try and increase & see how it goes.

@binkie7, you will have to be a little quicker off the mark, Karen...we both got the same so I guess we're correct, Cheers.

Glad to hear our 'tricks' did the 'trick' for ya :)
Hmmm tips - not Nero but burning in general - use the good stuff (media wise - posted above) and keep your firmware up to date. That goes a looong way :)
    Happy Burning!!
