I have researched buying laptop speakers and want to purchase the Altec Lansing xt1 speakers(http://playlistmag.com/reviews/2005/04/usbspeakers/index.php). The only problem is I want to mount the speakers on the sides of my laptop's screen. Does anyone know a good way of doing this? My screen is a little less than a half an inch thick(sony vaio)...
Well... I use adhesive backed velcro for a lot of things. If you use the heavy duty, and cut the fuzzy side to fit the side of the laptop. Then place the hook side on the loop side and trim it to width. The hook side would be best on the speakers. It may not be the most glamorous setup, but it would be functional. A plus would be the extra padding on the sides from the loop. When you need to travel lite just rip the speaks off. Just a tinkerers sugg.
i get the idea of what your saying but i don't quite follow ... what do mean loops?... maybe you could show me a pic or something; please go into detail if you can... if not, no big deal
Sorry, velcro has a fuzzy loop side and a coarse hook side to lock onto the loops. I was just suggesting to put the soft fuzzy side on the laptop. And the rough hook side on the speakers. The hooks would catch on anything fairly fuzzy if it were on the laptop, and you had detached the speakers. To me it would be better than mounting a metal bracket. But that just me. Let the thread hang around, and see if anyone else has any suggestions. CD.
