Been using Nero for ages now, without any problems, for CDs and DVDs. Nero 5.5, which came pre-loaded. I have un-installed and re-installed from the disc. Now all of a sudden its stopped recognising my writer. I even thought it must be the writer, so i went and bought another one (pioneer 111D), it doesn't recognise this either. When i go to burn the only recorder it gives me the option of is HDD, i.e. it will only copy to a folder on my hard drive, not to a disc in my writer. Please someone tell me there is an easy fix for this as i cant seem to find a way around it, and believe me i've tried. TIA.
Are you able to use this same drive to rip the DVD/CD? Is your drive shown in My Computer? Do you have a burn log that you can post? Nero 5 is a little outdated, have you tried upgrading to 6 or 7? Have you tried backup's using any other software such as DVD Shrink and Imgburn or DVD Decrypter? EDIT: What are your computer's spec's?
I could use my old drive to rip/burn, i haven't tried my new drive yet as i've only fitted it yesterday. As i said, i only bought a new drive because the problem started using my previous drive, one which i have had no problems using for a long while. New drive plays CDs/DVDs ok. It IS shown in 'my computer'. No burn log, as Nero doesn't give me the option to even try a burn to disc. The only recorder shown is 'image recorder'. I've used DVDShrink to rip the original as i have always done. I have done nothing different to what i have been doing for ages and still it wont work?
Try creating an ISO with DVD Shrink and burn it with Imgburn or DVD Decrypter and post a log from there.
BTW, i have tried updating to Nero 7, but after the download finshed it said the serial number was invalid. This was from a link on here.
Choose your target as ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter instead of your burner. EDIT: BTW...don't crosspost your question in another thread. It confuses the people who are trying to help you and is against forum rules.
