so i have a power mac g4 with mirrored drive doors and i got quake three and need clasic to run so i have this os9.1 disc my friend gave me and i pop it in to install classic and it says that there is no classic folder or somthing then i try to startup my mac with holding down the c key and then i see the smile and then it goes away and it starts up 10.4.6 when i open classic settings it says "Classic may not start from this volume if the Classic resources need updating." and it also says my drive is only set to read so i need help on installing it and i have gone into disk utility and partioned a second hard drive that i have and not using and checked off install folder with classic drivers and i cant even use that to install it oh and the 9.1 disc i have is like a bootable one not one that came with the newer macs the two icons i have when i open the disk that invole installing somthing are "mac os install" and "install mac os 9.1" any help with be great thanks

ok here is what you eed to do and you are not going to like this

first boot your computer with mac os 9.1 then select erase disk on the main hard drive then install mac os 9.1 mac sure it boots and runs then install mac os x

    warning though.....

if your computer isn't letting you boot from the cd then mac os 9.1 may not run on that mac and you may need os 9.2.2

if it is a new mac mini it may be an intel.. and classic will NOT work on any intel machine.
