Hey guys, I ordered a Panasonic Th-42px60u today.I already have an Oppo OPDV971H dvd player,so I need a surround sound system.What are your suggestions. should I use individual components or get a Theatre in a box type. Would like to keep it in the 300-400 price range. The wife was gracious enough to let me spend 2k on the plasma,so I don't want to push it.
For your price range, about all you can do is HTIB. That's about the only way you can get receiver and speakers. If you already have speakers, I'd definately get a seperate A/V receiver.
Have you looked at Onkyo or Yamaha HTIB, at least you'll get a quality receiver out of the whole thing.. The speakers aren't that bad either......good luck..
I have been looking into Onkyo.The local electronics store has the ONK HTS580 setup and I'm going to go listen to it.
Great TV. Don't get a Home theater in a box. You've already taken the first step in the right direction. You have to push it. You are now a videophile. Now its time to become an audiophile. Try this site http://www.av123.com/index.php Look at there B-stock, a little over your budget but take it slow. Try a Denon, Harman Kardon, Pioneer, all good receivers. Budgets are always broken.
The wife has decided to let me get pieces at a time(receiver here,speaker there)until I get it all.I'm not going to complain,like I said she did let me get the TV.I assume that there products would change day by day? The only receiver I see now is a Denon.
Yes, their products do change. I called when I ordered my equipment. If you have questions, they have a great support team.
Denon makes some very good receivers. The worst thing about a Denon receiver is that the remote is a nightmare to learn. Better off buying a Harmony remote, and let it work [bold]everything.[/bold]
