Problems with PC- Monitor/Vid Card

I know this is probably going to sound stupid, but when i load up my computer the screen has lines everywhere and goes fuzzy looking, after about 5-10 minutes worth of restarting, its eventually normal.

More recently the problem has become worse, does the above + the monitor now turns off and on, when it turns back on the screen again goes fuzzy and has lines everywhere...

My computer is a bit old (2001) and i have the NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200 graphics card. Most likely its had it days? or is the problem something else? It wouldnt be the monitor?

ok well its not the monitor, so it looks like the graphics card has shit itself.

Just wondering, my computer is about 4 years old. and the motherboard is the P4VXAS, what graphics card can someone recommend for this mb. I have no idea what to look for, obviously its old so i cant go for superfast cards. But any input would be appriciated.

a couple hundred AU dollars

my main concern was whether there are AGP still available for older motherboards, i was reading somewhere that the connections (whatever its called) are not compatable with the older model motherboard

i dont use my pc for gaming, but do use it for everything else
